Easy Southern Fried Chicken! Deep Fried or use Air Fryer!

Southern Fried Chicken

Breaded chicken recipe (for any chicken, I prefer chicken legs and thighs for breaded chicken)

Serves 2

Ingredients

4 chicken legs with thighs

(you can use chicken breast or chicken wings)

Place following ingredients in medium size pot.

2 tbsp. ginger powder

1 tsp. Salt

1 tbsp. Montreal steak spice

1 tbsp. oregano

1 tbsp. basil

½ tsp. Fresh cracked black pepper

Water enough to cover chicken

oil for deep frying- 1-2 litres depending on your fryer or pot you use,

Bring the chicken and seasoned water to boil. Let chicken sit in water for ½ hour. Remove chicken. Bread chicken using breading recipe below.

I like this method because chicken is cooked so the frying the process takes less time.

Breading

2 cups pan corn flour( add 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp ginger, ½ tsp fresh cracked pepper)

2 eggs and 2 cups milk

Breading the chicken

Dredge chicken in season corn flour, then coat with egg mixture then coat with season corn flour

Repeat process until all chicken is breaded

Deep Frying Chicken

Fry in deep frying pan with oil heated to 350 Fahrenheit 

Fry for 2 minutes on each side or until chicken is light golden

Place fried chicken on baking tray

Cook in 350 pre-heated oven for 30 minutes or until chicken has internal temperature of 170 Fahrenheit.

 Air Fryer

Lightly spray chicken with non-stick spray.

Pre-heat air fryer 400 F

Cook for 3 minutes flip and cook for another 3-5 minutes

Cook until golden brown.
